This is my 4th day in Portugal at the pre holding camp. It’s so lovely and warm and the smell of sea is just what I love, great place to train.
My first day of training was Monday, it was a light track session – just a warm up and some walking over hurdles followed by circuits in the gym: this is a mixture of balanced work with upper body and just general conditioning.
All in all a good considering the flight (flights and me don’t go together!)
Tuesday was a big day at the track, it started at 8:30… early mornings not my cuppa tea! So I got a double shot of espresso down me and I was laughing!
This was my morning session 150, 100, 150, and 100 rapid!
Wasn’t quite sure how my body was going to react from the flight, but bearing in mind the day before went well, I was confident about this one.
I started the session with some resistant band work (where I basically pull my coach along by a rubber band) couple of 20ms and 40ms just to help me with my acceleration.
It certainly did!! I got a PB in both my 150 and my 100m a very good day!
My drive was awesome on the second one of the 150m and I was able to kick again and maintain, very happy with that session.
Went back to my dad’s hotel for some lunch and an afternoon nap, he’s out here for the first week, so glad he’s here, he helps me switch off and relax. It’s great to have some familiarity out here!
After a two hour nap it was back to the track for a gym session, this was quite light seeing as I’m tapering down now, just some squats, leg press, deadlift and some ab work at the end.
Safe to say I’ve woken up today (Wednesday) a bit fried and very sore!
Luckily I’ve got a recovery day today down at the beach – some stretching and then drills in the sea, this will hopefully get everything out of my legs for Fridays big day again, wonder what my coach Jonas has install for that session?!?!
Right best be off the sea is calling me …..
